Nottingham - Wendy Aindow (Dip, PGCD)
I am a therapist with many years experience of working in private practice in Nottingham.
My referrals come from local GP's in Nottingham, other professional practitioners and people who recommend me because they have been a client of mine in the past. I am qualified in many modalities of counselling and am able to offer my clients a specialist service that is dependent on their specific requirements.
I work with clients from all backgrounds and am committed to anti-discrimatory practice. My client base crosses the boundaries of different cultures, religions and sexualities.
I feel my clients come to me because of my experience and professionalism and also because they know I care. The comments I most often hear from clients is that during their time with me they ''feel safe, are being heard, someone understands them, are being seen and feel ok''. My clients often comment that they are surprised that therapy is not only about the past but they can have some 'fun' too. I feel honoured to share their journey.
Many of my clients have found themselves at a cross road in life, experiencing persistent emotional problems which they feel cannot be resolved single headedly. They want to create positive change in their life, feel good within, be more confident and motivated, to change unwanted behaviours and achieve fulfilling relationships. Counselling and psychotherapy helps clients to talk and explore their feelings, beliefs and thoughts and aid them on their journey to achieving fulfilment.
As a therapist I see counselling as a dual process, a continuum of processing and development, and investment in the future. Therapy is about enabling an individual to make choices that allows a new shaping of their own future, where before there did not seem to be a pathway through.
I have experience of working with clients experiencing a variety of problems and issues such as: anger, shame, abuse, fear, stress, anxiety, grief, sadness, loneliness, trauma, control, eating disorders, weight control, relationship problems, identity issues, childhood trauma, phobias, obesity, stopping smoking, confidence, public speaking, exam stress, IBS, pain, relaxation, memory improvement, childbirth, insomnia, and pain control. This list is not exhaustive.
I work with adults and adolescent boys and girls who have found themselves having to deal with problems surrounding: drug misuse, self harm, risky sexual behaviour, eating disorders, self-esteem, emotional issues, improving their functioning as part of the family and increasing their social activities.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly attend specialist certificated workshops and training. I hold the following qualifications:
